EMILIE HOUSSART
The DIRT Project
The DIRT Project generates responsive, experiential, collaborative workshops and installations at public sites, based on playful excavations of "dirt" – as a linguistic stake, as physical matter in shifting contexts, and as an interdependent, essential living community, of which we are a part.
These experiences aim to build physical and psychic connections between humans of all ages with land, visible and invisible; to explore how we might identify inherited biases; and to consider together how we might move beyond them.
Individual projects are tailored to site and participants, and are based in research around commercial food and land norms, Environmental Justice, mental health and regenerative practices, as well as in open-ended creative exploration.
